Southern Disability Advocacy advocates for the rights and interests of people with a disability. Where appropriate we will work with families and other informal supports of the person with a disability. Our services are free and we are independent of service providers and the Government, so we are able to advocate for our clients without conflict of interest. See Who Can Use Us for more information.
Some areas we have worked in recently include:
- Accommodation
- Service access
- NDIS internal appeals
- VCAT Guardianship List hearings
- Health
We are funded to work with people with a disability from the following areas:
- City of Port Phillip, City of Stonnington & City of Bayside
- City of Glen Eira & City of Kingston
- City of Frankston & Shire of Mornington Peninsula.
- City of Casey.
We are providing advocacy in relation to the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability. We can help people with disability to understand how to tell their story to the Disability Royal Commission, how to work out problems or avoid discriminatory issues, find communication supports such as interpreters, and access other supports such as legal or financial services.
The advocacy provided will depend on the circumstances and your situation. You are in control of the advocacy we do for you.
